Manila authorities seize 400 kilos of ‘double-dead’ meat
City authorities seized some 400 kilos of "double-dead" meat along Recto Avenue in Manila's Divisoria district early Sunday morning.
According to Dr. Nick Santos, chief of the Manila Veterinary Inspection Board's Special Enforcement Squad, the vendors who had attempted to sell the tainted meat had fled and abandoned their wares when they realized that city authorities were about to pounce on them.
The meat was stuffed into several woven bags, and was believed to have come from Bulacan.

Manila Veterinary Inspection Board officer-in-charge Alberto Burdeos added that they knew immediately that they were dealing with tainted meat because of the smell.
"Maputla, halatang halata ito. 'Di pa nga fattener yan, oh. Mga piglets pa yan, oh. Maliliit ang ribs," Burdeos added. "You dont sell fresh biik sa market, eh. Bawal katayin yun. Mapulat iba ang amoy, malabsa, may balahibo."
The tainted meat will be buried as it was unsafe for use even as animal feed. — DVM, GMA News
