3 drug suspects, including parents of former actor, arrested

Three drug suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City early Tuesday morning, James Agustin reported on GMA News' Unang Balita.

Among the suspects are Engelbert and Jean Peralta, the parents of former TV personality Hiro Peralta.

The third drug suspect was identified as Ronnie Telan.

Police operatives said they bought P500 worth of suspected shabu from Engelbert, who turned it over to his wife.

The police retrieved 19 sachets of suspected shabu that weighed five grams with a street value of P34,000.

Engelbert was arrested in 2015 after authorities seized illegal drugs in his possession.

He surrendered under Oplen Tokhang and is included in the drug watch list in Barangay Bagbag.

Jean said they were just playing Bingo and that they do not sell drugs, and added that her husband only uses illegal drugs once in a while.

Telan denied that he is a drug pusher and said he was just renting out vehicles.

The suspects face complaints based on the violations of provisions under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, disobedience, and resisting arrest. — BAP/KG, GMA News
