2 kilos of shabu, ingredients seized in San Juan

At least two kilos of shabu and some ingredients for making the illegal drugs were seized inside an abandoned house in San Juan, according to a report of Bam Alegre in "Balitanghali" on Thursday.

“Ito ngayon yung tinatawag nating clandestine shabu laboratory,” National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Guillermo Eleazar said of the yield, which also included sets of equipment for cooking the substance.

Eleazar said the shabu laboratory could be linked to the 27 sacks of ephedrine the police found recently inside a van in Pasig City, which also led to the arrest of a Korean chemist.

“Dito sila nagluluto ng shabu, kung matatandaan natin 27 sacks of ephedrine were seized inside the van associated to Korean chemist at dito galing lahat ng yun,” Eleazar said.

Included in the seized drugs was a variety of shabu called china brown which only needs a little processing to be market ready, the report said.

The laboratory was tracked through a series of follow up investigation.

Initially, authorities arrested a drug personality in Caloocan City named Marvin Yu who tipped off a Korean chemist identified as Kim Jong Hi in Pasig City.

“Nag-conduct tayo ng follow-up investigation and the following day, we were able to raid the condominium unit na huling tinirhan ng Korean chemist na ito through a search warrant,” Eleazar said.

“We were able to confiscate at least two kilograms of finished products of shabu as well as more than P450, 000 bills,” he added. —Joviland Rita/ LDF, GMA News
