According to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita, the fire started past 1 a.m. Tuesday.
The fire quickly spread since the houses were made of light materials.
Fire out was declared at 5:26 a.m.
The BFP said 400 families lost their homes.
Affected residents temporarily sought shelter at the Nuestra Señora de Gracia Church.
Barangay Guadalupe Viejo Chairman Dennis Almario said the victims of the fire were already given assistance by the Makati Social Welfare Department.
The BFP also said three people were injured. One of them is a rescue volunteer while the other two are residents.
Senior Inspector Algie Mullanida, chief of operations of Makati BFP, admitted the firemen had difficulty putting out the fire since the area was wide.
"Kasi malawak po 'yung area. This is more or less 1.5 hectares and considering na light combustible materials ang involved. This is a residential area. And meron din po tayong roads under repair in this area, sa kabila po," Mullanida said.
The BFP is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. —With Cecille Villarosa/BAP/KG, GMA News
