Former presidents, colleagues attend wake of GMA founding chairman Gilberto M. Duavit
Colleagues, politicians, and two former presidents visited the wake of GMA-7 founding chairman and former congressman Gilberto M. Duavit Sr. over the weekend.
Among those who paid their respects at Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City were Rizal Governor Nini Alcantara Ynares, former President and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, and Senator Joel Villanueva.
Former foreign affairs secretary Alan Peter Cayetano and his sister Pia Cayetano, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, and former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque were also present.
On Saturday, former GMA Network president Menardo Jimenez and his family also viewed Duavit's remains.
House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former Mandaluyong congressman Neptali Gonzales II, and former senator Bong Revilla also visited.
Senators Sherwin Gatchalian and Nancy Binay were also among those who took part in the wake.
The visitors were warmly welcomed by Duavit's son, GMA Network president and COO Gilberto R. Duavit Jr.
Duavit passed away on Friday at the age of 84.
A necrological service will be held at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Monday.
His remains will afterwards be brought to the Duavit Residence Social Hall in Binangonan, Rizal and will stay there until Wednesday. — Dona Magsino/BM, GMA News
