PNR train hits, crushes man near Pandacan Station in Manila

A man was killed on the spot when a Philippine National Railways train hit him a few meters away from the PNR Pandacan Station in Manila on Wednesday morning.

On Super Radyo dzBB's "Dobol B sa News TV," PNR spokesperson and operations manager Joseline Geronimo said that the man, later identified as Remy Orlino, crossed the railway at 6:22 a.m. unnoticed by the train operator.

According to CCTV footage shown in a report on QRT on Wednesday, the train was approaching the station when Orlino suddenly crossed the railway.

The train was only a few inches away from him when he noticed it.

He was killed on the spot and the incident delayed the trains' northbound operation by a few minutes.

The PNR has vowed to extend help to the victim's family.

According to the PNR, 10 train-related deaths and 21 injuries have been recorded in the period from January to October 2018. — with Dona Magsino/LBG/KG/BM, GMA News
