Truck driver clambers out of moving 18-wheeler; stunt frightens motorist

A unidentified man was seen to climb out of an 18-wheeler truck's cabin, even as the vehicle roared along the South Luzon Expressway on Monday morning.

The man hung onto the side of the vehicle to retrieve an object as the truck continued moving. After accomplishing his task, the daredevil simply slipped back inside the truck.

Jammy Maximo Romero, who captured the incident on his dashcam, was panicked by the stunt he believed was performed by the truck driver himself.

"Kasi truck 'yun.

According to Romero, he moved his car beside the truck and was surprised to see that the truck's driver was the same man who  had clambered out.

"Parang magkamukha eh.

Romero conceded that it was also possible that the driver's assistant on the passenger seat had taken control of the vehicle as the driver performed his feat.

The video meanwhile had thousands of reactions in a few days.

"Andami-daming truck accidents eh. Parang hindi lang tama," said a still aghast Romero.

Land Transportation Office (LTO) Law Enforcement Unit Director Francis Almora found the event alarming.

"Hindi traffic rules and regulations ang viniolate niya kundi talagang, is he in the right... common sense po 'yun," said Almora. "He is not the right, proper person to operate a motor vehicle."

The official warned that the LTO could take action against the truck driver, even if it was the assistant that did the clambering.
