2 Korean fugitives nabbed in Metro Manila
Two Korean fugitives involved in illegal drugs and fraud were arrested by authorities in separate operations in Metro Manila.
According to an exclusive report by John Consulta in GMA's 24 Oras on Wednesday, the suspect Lee Yun who was a subject of an arrest warrant from a court in Seoul was nabbed by the members of the Korean Police and Bureau of Immigration Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU) in Caloocan City.
Lee is wanted for allegedly bringing in illegal drugs from the Philippines to South Korea.
"Based on the information that was provided to us by our counterparts, he smuggled drugs, particularly shabu, from Manila going to Korea through air freights," said BI-FSU chief Bob Raquepo.
Another Korean suspect, Kim Youngin was arrested at a high-end condominium in Metro Manila for supposed voice phishing and cyber fraud.
According to authorities, he was a member of an international criminal syndicate that was able to cart away P26 million from their victims in South Korea and in the Korean community in the Philippines.
"Kasama ang field special unit ng Bureau of Immigration ay kaya natin nahuli ang dayuhang ito makalipas ang ilang taon. Gusto nating mahuli ang ganitong klaseng mga kriminal para maproteksyunan ang ating Korean community," said Police Brigadier General Vicente Danao Jr., chief of the Manila Police District.
The two suspects will be deported to South Korea where they will face the charges filed against them. —Dona Magsino/ LDF, GMA News
