Despite warning from authorities, several residents still tried to beat the heat by swimming at Baseco beach in Manila, which is found to be contaminated with coliform bacteria, Cecille Villarosa reported on News To Go on Tuesday.
As the day broke on Tuesday, a holiday, residents flocked to Baseco beach to do recreational activities like exercising, sightseeing and swimming, even if the water was not clear. Some men were also seen fishing.
Policemen, however, later came and ordered the residents to get out of the water.
Swimming on Baseco beach is prohibited because it is connected to the Manila Bay, which is highly contaminated with coliform.
