At least 4,000 passengers are expected to troop to the Araneta Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City on Sunday to catch buses going to their respective provinces where they will spend the Holy Week.

According to a report by Super Radyo dzBB's Luisito Santos, about 4,000 to 5,000 passengers are likely to flock to the terminal on Palm Sunday, higher than the 3,600 passengers recorded the day before, said a coordinator at the station.

The coordinator, however, said that more passengers are expected on Monday or Tuesday in time for payday.

According to a report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali on Sunday, the management of the Araneta Center Bus Terminal said around 99,000 passengers are expected to use the terminal and the Araneta Bus Port this Holy Week.

A total of 88,000 passengers used these facilities during Holy Week last year, the bulk of whom showed up on Holy Tuesday 2018.

Most buses in the terminal are not yet fully booked, except the air conditioned ones found in the Araneta Bus Port.

Due to the influx of passengers, anti-dizziness medicines have been sold out in stores around the terminal.

Personnel of the Quezon City Police District who have been deployed in the vicinity of the terminal have not recorded any untoward incident since Saturday night.

On Saturday, passengers waiting for their buses tried to bear the summer heat with paper fans.
