Ceraficas' supporters protest Cayetanos' victory in Taguig

Supporters of siblings local poll candidates Arnel and Allan Cerafica protested the victory of the Cayetanos in the midterm elections in Taguig.

According to a report in GMA News TV's State of the Nation with Jessica Soho on Wednesday, hundreds marched towards the city hall but they were barred from getting near the building. They accused the Cayetano clan of cheating in the local elections.

"Kitang-kita naman na 'yung ating mga resibo. Pagka binoto 'yung ating slate, hindi lumalabas. Ang lumalabas, 'yung kanilang pangalan. Magpo-protesta tayo dito, mas maganda kung mabilang nang manual pero dapat 'yung balota ang ating basahin, hindi through VCM [vote counting machine]," said mayoral candidate Arnel Cerafica.

Arnel was defeated by Lino Cayetano in the mayoral race.

Lino's brother former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, on the other hand, won a congressional seat representing Taguig City 1st District. He bested three other candidates including Arnel's brother Allan Cerafica.

Alan Peter Cayetano, on the other hand, denied the allegation of their critics.

Lino Cayetano said he did not receive any report regarding formal complaints on the election results.

Meanwhile, Alan Peter's wife Lani Cayetano also won as representative of Taguig City 2nd District. — Dona Magsino/BAP, GMA News
