C5 Road, EDSA among Metro Manila's deadliest roads —MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday bared the list of Metro Manila's "deadliest roads" based on the number of accidents reported.

According to a report of Athena Imperial on GMA News’ Balitanghali on Tuesday, C5 Road and Edsa topped the list with most number of accidents recorded last year.

MMDA said overspeeding was the most common reason for the accidents.

“Usually, gabi. 'Yung lesser traffic… Basically, nangyayari 'yan sa gabi to morning, na wala tayong masyadong mga sasakyan,” MMDA EDSA traffic chief Bong Nebrija said.

Based on its records, MMDA said C5 Road has the most number of reports with 27 fatal accidents recorded last year. Followed by Edsa with 21,  Roxas Boulevard with 17, MacArthur Highway with 11, and Commonwealth Avenue with 10  fatal accidents.

"We can attribute this doon sa narrowing roads ng Commonwealth. Before 10 lanes 'yan, e ngayon halos down to 5 or 6 dahil nga sa construction ng MRT,” Nebrija said.

MMDA said these accidents in ‘killer roads’ C5 Road and Edsa usually involved drunk drivers. —Joviland Rita/LDF, GMA News
