Transport group officer shot dead in Quezon City
A jeepney driver was shot dead by armed men on Tuesday evening in Quezon City, Vonne Aquino reported on GMA News' Saksi.
The victim, Ruel Malagueño, had no passengers when he turned at North Avenue where he was waylaid then shot by one of the suspects.
The suspects fired another shot, which may have been fatal as the victim lost control of his vehicle and hit a nearby SUV.
The suspects, who were wearing helmets, face mask, and black jacket, escaped in the direction of North Avenue on a motorcycle that had no plate number.
A child of the victim said the incident may have stemmed from envy over a position in the transport group, Stop and Go Coalition Muñoz Monumento Chapter.
Malagueño was the vice president of the group.
The victim, according to the report, received a death threat last year.
Two spent shells of still unknown caliber were found at the crime scene. — BAP, GMA News
