Irked after seeing the graffiti on a martial law marker behind the Andres Bonifacio monument, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ordered the Manila Police District to strictly implement the law against vandalism.

Moreno, who has become famous for his trailblazing work in cleaning up his city, appealed to the public not to deface the martial law marker, statues, monuments, and other public markers.

He said he does not want to send people to jail over petty violation.

Vandals, however, would be made to clean up their mess.

"Kung mabisa ang laway nila, lawayan  nila," Moreno said.

Two weeks ago, Moreno led city hall employees in its flag-raising ceremony at the Andres Bonifacio monument, the first it was ever held there.

The flag-raising ceremony was conducted a week after flushing operations were conducted at the monument upon Moreno's orders, who wanted the place free from store owners and homeless people. —LDF, GMA News
