A policeman and a traffic enforcer were arrested during an entrapment operation along Palm Avenue in Makati City on Thursday for allegedly extorting money from truck drivers who enter Dasmariñas Village.

Police identified the suspects as Patrolman John Felix, mobile patroller at Station 2 of the Makati City Central Police Station and traffic enforcer Jason Parcon.

Operatives from the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) and cops from the Southern Police District launched the operation after truck operator Silverio Samson complained that the two suspects were demanding P100 for each truck that enters Dasmariñas Village.

During the operation, the suspects received marked money worth P600 from the complainant.

Investigation bared that all trucks have necessary permits to enter the said village. However, the suspects are allegedly extorting money from the trucks for more than a month, police said.

The suspects are presently under the custody of IMEG for further investigation and proper documentation for the filing of appropriate charges. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
