Most of the dengue cases in Metro Manila this year were recorded in Quezon City, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday.

According to a GMA News TV Live report, the city had over 3,000 cases of dengue. During the same period in 2018, over 4,000 dengue cases were reported in the area.

The DOH explained that Quezon City's huge population is a factor, adding that it is closely monitoring areas where dengue cases spiked.

In Taguig, the number of dengue cases was already above the epidemic threshold, growing by over 100 percent from the total in 2018.

Metro Manila already has over 10,000 reported dengue cases since January 2019 which is slightly lower than the 11,000 cases reported last year.

Defogging and cleanup drives were able to help reduce the incidence of dengue in the area, according to the report.
