Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said corruption cannot seep into his political career simply because he does not have the political pedigree to make it possible.

In an interview on GMA News TV's Bawal ang Pasaway kay Mareng Winnie, he was asked why he thinks he would be different from his predecessors in the mayoral seat who had been accused of alleged corruption.

"Una, solong anak lang ako ng nanay ko. Wala akong mga kapatid na pwedeng gumambala sa akin to enrich themselves or use my name. Pangalawa, ang liliit pa ng mga anak ko. Pangatlo, ang asawa ko, she's just an ordinary woman," Moreno said.

The mayor said that he doesn't see himself turning out to be like the former mayors of Manila who supposedly had their names tainted with corruption.

"The possibility of ending up like them is marami nang nawala na portion for me to be pushed to that situation," he added.

Meanwhile, Moreno said that he refrains from dragging his wife and children to his official business as a mayor because he wants them to "live normally."

He also said that his wife understands why he has to rove around the city at past midnight sometimes.

"Siyempre nasisita na rin ako. Sabi ko, if I'm not going to do it, nobody will. If I'm not going to show them how to do it, they will never know," he said. — Dona Magsino/MDM, GMA News
