Hazing victim Darwin’s dad, an alumnus, wants change of system at PMA
Retired Colonel William Dormitorio has called for a change in the system of the Philippine Military Academy after his son Dawin died of injuries caused by hazing just six months into the institution.
According to Marisol Abdurahman's "24 Oras", William said he wanted the full force of the law to be implemented against those responsible for the death of the fourth class cadet.
The elder Dormitorio is a member of the PMA Class of 1974.
“Enforce the law, full force of the law so tan awon ko ma-relieve silang tanan,” William said in a mix of English and Bisaya.
William believes Darwin could have handled training at the academy. He said Darwin told him that he would not quit.
Investigation showed that Darwin was confined at the PMA hospital three times.
“It's impossible na maka-cause ka ng ganyang damage sa autopsy […] Tingin ko may something pa,” said Darwin's brother.
“Three times ka nang in-inform ng ospital na something [is] wrong. What did you do to act on it? Okay lang sa'yo na naospital kadete mo?” he added.
Darwin was incorporated to the academy in July along with his 400 batchmates from the PMA Madasigon Class of 2023.
Darwin died on September 18.
Police said that he was a victim of hazing.
