There were untested solutions to Metro Manila's traffic problems –Gordon

Senator Richard Gordon on Saturday said that there were solutions to the public transportation and traffic problems in Metro Manila, but officials do not seem to be trying these approaches.

"Halimbawa, iba ibang pasok para di sabay sabay napupuno [and mga PUV]; Iba-iba rin ang uwi; dagdagan ang school buses; at certain hours, dapat apat ang laman ng sasakyan. Marmaing magagawa pero 'di pa sinusubukan," Gordon explained during a radio interview.

He added that Metro Manila was not the only place in the world that suffered from heavy traffic. Furthermore, that at its core, the Philippine problem was a law and order problem.

"[There has been a] transportation crisis for a long time. Matagal na yan eh. Dapat sinosolve," he said.

Gordon added that the commute challenge the Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo took up on Friday was a "no win situation" for Panelo, who was well aware that there was a public transportation problem.

"[Panelo] should really tell the president na talagang mahirap. Yung jeeps dapat convert na natin into buses. dapat may lane ang buses may oras ang pagsakay," said the senator. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
