Mayor Isko promotes traffic enforcer dragged by car
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Monday announced that he has approved the regularization of the traffic enforcer who was dragged by a car over the weekend, as an employee of the local government.
During a ceremony at city hall, Moreno praised the 21-year old traffic enforcer, Adrian Lim, who was a job order worker of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB).
"'Di ko alam kung anong pumasok sa isipan niya bakit isinawalang bahala niya ang kanyang kaligtasan, ang kanyang buhay sa pagtupad ng kanyang tungkulin. Sinampahan yung kotse. Bakit? Gusto niya ipatupad ang batas," Moreno said.
"Dapat tularan ito. O, MTPB, alam na this...hanapan niyo na ito. Congatulations, we're proud of you," he added.
On Saturday, Lim apprehended an errant driver of SUV, identified as Orlando Ricardo Dizon Jr., for disregarding lane marking. Instead of paying the P500 fine, Dizon tried to escape.
In the video, Dizon's SUV can be seen speeding and swerving many times with the traffic enforcer hanging outside from the window. Lim said Dizon also punched him, which the driver denied.
After around 300 meters, Lim was able let go from the speeding SUV. After the incident, the traffic enforcer sustained wounds and his face had swollen.
The driver fled but was nabbed by police along Oroquieta Street near Tayuman Street.
Dizon, who is now detained at the Manila Police District station, was charged with physical injury and hit and run. — RSJ, GMA News
