Father searches for late son's painting of younger brother
A father has turned to social media in an anguished search for a late son's painting of his younger brother.
Anthony Lee appealed to the public to help him find the artwork of his son, Renz, that featured the latter's brother, Aaron, when he was still a baby, according to a report on State of the Nation with Jessica Soho on Monday.
"We are posting this in the hope to find the person who bought this piece of artwork that is very close to our hearts; this piece of artwork that reminds us how Renz loved Aaron. We hope to retrieve (if the owner will sell) the painting so Aaron can have a piece of memory of his beloved Kuya Renz," Lee said in his post.
Renz made the painting for his little brother in 2014 when he was still a Fine Arts student at the University of the Philippines-Diliman.
Aaron was one year and a half years old at that time, but Renz decided to capture in his artwork the photo of his brother when he was about five months old.
Lee and Aaron live in Canada with the rest of their family, while Renz resides in the Philippines.
The two brothers finally met during Renz’s graduation in 2016. Sadly, it was to be their first and last meeting as Renz passed away last month. Aaron is now seven year old.
Lee said Renz did not have the chance to send the painting to Canada. He learned that it was sold.
Lee appealed to the holder of the artwork to give their family a chance to reclaim it.
The Lee family said the artwork was not a mere work of art by Renz, but a special reminder of the love and bond between the two brothers. —Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
