E-jeepneys to hike minimum fare to P11 beginning Dec. 4
Passengers of e-jeepneys will have to shell out P11 as minimum fare beginning Wednesday, December 4, according to a report by Oscar Oida on GMA's 24 Oras.
The fare increase was approved by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board based on its Memorandum Circular 2019-61.
Regular jeepneys charge P9 minimum fare.
Airconditioned e-jeepneys will also impose a 20% increase in fare per succeeding kilometer, while non-airconditioned e-jeepneys will have no hike.
"Siyempre, wala naman gaganahan sumakay kung tataasan mga pamasahe," Rene Sumalia, an e-jeeney driver said.
"Kung tataasan pa lalo yung pamasahe, maaring tataas din ang boundary namin," he added.
According to the LTFRB, the fare hike would be worth it compared to the comfort e-jeepneys give to passengers. They are also more environment-friendly compared to the regular jeepneys. —LDF, GMA News
