Virra Mall in Greenhills, San Juan City was put on lockdown on Monday noon due to a shooting incident, according to Super Radyo dzBB's Mark Makalalad.

A separate Balitanghali report said a person was wounded in the shooting.

An earlier report on Balitanghali by Emil Sumangil said a hostage-taking incident was taking place at Greenhills Shopping Center.

Sumangil said a SWAT team from the Eastern Police District has already been deployed to the area and is just awaiting orders.

San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora is also already in the area.

Citing the police, the Balitanghali report said a former security guard is being considered as suspect in the hostage-taking incident. The suspect reportedly asked other guards to occupy the mall but nobody joined him.

It was not clear how many people were being held by the hostage-taker, the report added, but tweets by Super Radyo dzBB citing Zamora said there were "more or less 30" hostages.

Before the lockdown, multiple gunshots were heard inside the establishment. —KBK, GMA News
