Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan said on Monday that an employee of the city government has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The patient, Malapitan said in a statement, is recovering and condition is improving.

The employee went to the City Hall last March 3 or 13  days ago before exhibiting symptoms and before he was diagnosed to have COVID-19.

After his condition improved, he was sent home by his attending physicians.

The close contacts of the employee have also been traced and were advised to undergo self-quarantine by the Department of Health.

Malapitan has ordered the work cessation at the city hall for disinfection.

He has also ordered the strict observance of social distancing as alcohol is supplied in various offices. -- BAP, GMA News
