The local government of San Juan on Thursday said it will turn the city’s science high school into an overflow quarantine facility for persons under investigation (PUI) of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to GMA News’ COVID-19 bulletin, Mayor Francis Zamora said the new building of San Juan City Science High school will be converted into a 100-bed quarantine facility.

Zamora added the facility will be managed by the San Juan Medical Center and the city health office.

The facility will also serve as a staging area for confirmed COVID-19 cases before they will be admitted to the San Juan Medical Center.

Aside from hospital beds, the facility will also have mobile x-rays, medical supplies and medicines.

Medical and frontline personnel as well as security guards, janitors and maintenance staff will also be assigned.

A total of 44 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have already been reported in San Juan as of Thursday.
