Taguig City on Friday launched a platform for residents to inform doctors and medical personnel of their medical concerns without the need to go to a hospital or health center.

Called the "Telemedicine" project, Taguig residents could now have free consultations via online or text. Health workers will also deliver medicines to the doorsteps of residents and will conduct house-to-house medical services including immunization.

The Taguig City government, on its Facebook page, said the project aims to give residents immediate care and to protect the frontliners, including doctors and health workers, through the use of technology amid the COVID-19 scare.

Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano added it is "to ensure people strictly do the required home quarantine, and to prevent them from congregating in areas in violation of social distancing protocols." --Jamil Santos/KBK, GMA News
