People are flocking to pawnshops come the fourth week of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.

A photo shared by netizen and photographer Roberto Reyes Ang captured a long line outside a Cebuana Lhuillier branch in Boni Avenue, Mandaluyong at around 4 p.m.

"Even though people attempt to follow social distancing, it is quite alarming how they flock to pawnshops as well as money remittance and bills payment centers as they try to manage their financial transactions and needs," he said in a Facebook post.

He added that the photo was taken a day after President Rodrigo Duterte extended of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine to April 30.

"Yesterday's announcement of the lockdown extension has made life more challenging for a lot of people, even for those who belong to the middle class," Roberto said.

The measure was put in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). As of Wednesday, the Philippines has 3,870 COVID-19 cases, 96 deaths and 182 recoveries.
