Cainta, Rizal begins mass testing for COVID-19


The municipal government of Cainta, Rizal began on Monday the mass testing for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in a bid to curb the spread of the illness.

According to GMA News’ COVID-19 Bulletin, medical personnel first visited the Greenwoods Subdivision in Barangay San Andres, where the most number of confirmed cases in Cainta are located.

Mayor Kit Nieto said Cainta currently has 5,000 test kits and another 5,000 will be added in case more people need to be tested.

Aside from people in households, medical personnel will also test those inside Cainta’s quarantine facilities.

Cainta currently has 65 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with nine fatalities and eight recoveries.

Nationwide, the number of COVID-19 cases reached 6,459, including 428 deaths and 613 recoveries as of Monday. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
