Tondo hospital to continue offering dialysis services despite temporary closure of ER
Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center in Tondo, Manila will continue to accept dialysis patients despite the temporary closure of its emergency room due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection among health workers.
In an interview on Dobol B sa News TV, the hospital's OIC-Director Dr. Ted Martin said it has to continue providing services to around 400 dialysis patients.
Nasa huling session po ito," he said.
A separate dialysis area for COVID-19 positive patients has also been set up.
He added that efforts are ongoing to transfer to other hospitals the six COVID-19 patients who are currently confined in their facility.
For other medical services, Martin advised the public to visit the nearby health care facilities in the meantime, as the emergency room of Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center will remain closed until May 5.
The seven medical workers who have been infected by COVID-19 are now receiving proper treatment, according to the official.
Contact tracing, testing, and disinfection efforts are ongoing, he added. —Dona Magsino/KG, GMA News
