Alleged bitcoin scammer nabbed in Parañaque

Authorities arrested a man in Marcelo Green Village, Parañaque City on Tuesday afternoon on the suspicion that he is a "big-time bitcoin scammer."

The National Capital Region Police Office on Wednesday identified the suspect as Malvin Chaneco Tianchon, 29, a resident of Recto Extension in Pasay City.

Authorities said Tianchon has been under the surveillance of the Pasay City Police for a month because of a standing warrant of arrest for estafa in relation to Republic Act No. 1015 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act No. 10175 that was issued against him by Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 117 acting presiding judge Jose Lorenzo Dela Rosa.

Police said there were also complaints about Tianchon coming from Singapore.

The suspect is presently detained at the Pasay City Police Station, according to the NCRPO. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
