Valenzuela signs ordinance prohibiting COVID-19 jokes, fake news

Valenzuela City passed an ordinance prohibiting jokes as well as passing false information regarding the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to a Saturday report on "24 Oras Weekend," the prohibition included pretending to be COVID-positive or accusing others of being positive.

Individuals violating the ordinance may be fined P5,000 and must provide community service.

As of Saturday, Valenzeula had 240 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 57 recoveries and 12 fatalities. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
