Manila gov't shortens curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The city government of Manila has passed an ordinance adjusting its curfew hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno said the new schedule was approved by the city council under Ordinance No. 8647.
"So ito kaalinsabay sa ginawa ng national government na pagbubukas ng 30 percent ng dine-in para naman maka-benta, karendirya ka man o food chain ka man," Moreno said in a live briefing.
Moreno said the local government will slowly lift the curfew as the COVID-19 pandemic becomes more manageable.
"Kalaunan, katulad ng kumpirmiso ko sa inyo, matapos lang itong state of health emergency ay onti-onti ko po 'yan ili-lift," he said.
However, the mayor said that the curfew for minors will remain.
"Except, 'yung curfew natin sa minors. 'Yun mananatili po 'yun, ibang batas po 'yun. Hindi po natin ginagalaw 'yun," Moreno said.
"'Yun kasi pangangalaga at pagmamalasakit sa ating mga kabataan kasi may mga ilang magulang na medyo pariwara sa kanilang mga anak. Ngayon, the policy of this administration is always to protect the interest of minors," he added.
As of Tuesday, the city has reported a total of 1,167 COVID-19 cases with 557 recoveries and 110 fatalities. —LDF, GMA News
