The city government of Manila deployed 400 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) safety marshals to help police and barangay officials enforce safety protocols as Metro Manila reverted to a modified enhanced community quarantine.

According to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, the COVID-19 safety marshals, who are deputized personnel of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, are in charge of roaming around the 896 barangays in Manila to remind residents to follow safety measures such as wearing of face masks and observing social distancing.

Earlier, the city government announced that quarantine passes previously issued will be used amid the MECQ.

An odd-even scheme on who will be allowed to go out during the MECQ will also be implemented.

Meanwhile, an 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew will also be imposed in the city. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
