Manila gov’t issues show cause order vs. Quiapo facility for alleged improper disposal of rapid test kits
The Manila City government on Wednesday issued a show cause order to a health facility in Quiapo allegedly responsible for the used rapid test kits that ended up scattered across a the street.
According to the Manila Public Information Office's report, the CP Diagnostics Center was the alleged source of the improperly disposed used rapid test kits along M. Dela Fuente Street in Sampaloc.
Manila Bureau of Permits officer-in-charge Levi Facundo gave the management of the facility 72 hours to explain why administrative charges should not be filed against them for their alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 and R.A. No. 6969 or the Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Waste Control Act of 1990.
Earlier, the Department of Health said health facilities that do not dispose of their waste materials properly will face suspension or revocation of license.
The Health department made the remark after CCTV footage of a sidecar accidentally dropping used rapid test kits on M. Dela Fuente Street in Sampaloc on Tuesday night went viral.
Earlier, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno warned that establishments responsible for improper waste management may face complaints or shutdown. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
