Elderly woman abandoned under MacArthur Bridge in Manila rescued

An elderly woman was rescued by barangay officials after she was abandoned by two men under the MacArthur Bridge in Manila.

According to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, residents said they first saw the woman in front of the chapel in Barangay 303, Zone 29. They said she was left there by two men on Wednesday afternoon.

“Naiinitan ‘yong matanda, kawawa naman. Nilagay namin diyan sa ilalim ng tulay,” the resident said.

Barangay officials immediately rescued the woman, who was seen lying on a piece of carton, after residents told them about her state.

“Hindi na ho ugaling tao ‘yong ginawa niyo. Kung may problema kayo doon sa matanda, sana inihanap niyo ng institusyon na paglalagakan, hindi ‘yong parang basura niyo lang iiwan,” Barangay 303, Zone 29 chairman Ariel Sierda said.
