Barangay frontliners in QC risk health to deliver supplies to COVID-19 patients

Several barangay frontliners risk their health to be able to deliver supplies and essential goods to COVID-19 patients under home quarantine in Quezon City.

According to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, Barangay Apolonio Samson captain Cheche de Jesus said the frontliners were called “alay” as they have to visit every home of infected patients.

“‘Pag sinabi mong alay, sila ‘yong binubuwis nila ‘yong buhay nila na may posibilidad na mahawa sila,” de Jesus said.

So far, six barangay frontliners have been infected with COVID-19 in their area.

“Lima na ‘yong deaths namin so nakakatakot din na ‘yong pupuntahan mo ganoon pero wala, parte ng trabaho namin ’to,” kagawad Eugene Magsain said.

Meanwhile, Randy Magsalin, a member of the emergency response team, said despite the risk, he is willing to serve the people.

“Siguro ito na po gusto ng Diyos na paglingkuran ko ang mga nasasakupan po namin,” he said.
