QC issues violation notices on 111 market vendors due to overpricing

The Market Development and Administration Department (MDAD) of the Quezon City government on Saturday issued notices of violation on 111 market vendors for allegedly overpricing basic commodities from January 1 to the present.

MDAD Head for Operations Procopio Lipana said the cases will be endorsed to the Department of Agriculture for proper investigation. They also sent receipts of transactions between the vendors and their traders as additional evidence.

Lipana said the DA may use the reports the department submitted to analyze and formulate suggested retail price for stakeholders.

According to the LGU, the MDAD monitors prices in markets across the city daily following the order of Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

The MDAD also confiscate unsealed or uncalibrated weighing scales, Lipana said. — DVM, GMA News
