40 schools, mega quarantine facilities being prepared as vaccination centers in Taguig
At least 40 schools will serve as community vaccination centers in Taguig City, according to Mayor Lino Cayetano.
Cayetano said the schools are already being readied to ensure that all logistical requirements are in place once COVID-19 vaccines are already available in the city.
Four mega quarantine vaccination centers, including the Lakeshore Complex in Lower Bicutan, are also being prepared, he added.
Cayetano also said the city government has signed an agreement with Orca Cold Chain Solutions Inc. for the use of its facility in Barangay Bagumbayan as storage for vaccines.
"Sisiguraduhin nila ang integridad ng vaccine at mula doon hanggang sa mga vaccination centers, sila ang mag-susupervise para sa wastong temperatura ng vaccine,” Cayetano said in a statement.
Taguig City is among the local government units that signed a tripartite agreement with AstraZeneca and the national government regarding vaccine purchase.
Cayetano said the AstraZeneca vaccines are apart from the vaccines which will be given by the national government. The first batch will be allocated for the health frontliners while the second batch will be given to other frontliners.
He added that the third batch of vaccines would be provided for the vulnerable sector, including senior citizens.
"To residents, stakeholders, visitors in the city of Taguig, ginagawa ho ang lahat ng pamahalaang lungsod para patuloy na maging handa sa panedmyang ito. Sa awa ng Diyos, we hope this is the beginning of the end of the pandemic," he said.
Since March, a total of 11,170 COVID-19 cases have been recorded, with 10,932 recoveries and 178 fatalities in Taguig.
