‘I'm protected from COVID-19 not just by PPE,’ Navotas doc says after getting Sinovac shot

A doctor at the Navotas City Hospital on Friday said she was given extra protection against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) after she received the vaccine developed by Sinovac.

According to Maki Pulido’s report on “24 Oras,” around 100 personnel of the Navotas City Hospital were expected to receive the vaccine on Friday.

“Masaya ako na nabigyan na po ng dagdag protection sa COVID. Hindi na lang po simpleng PPE, mask, at face shield yung panlaban ko sa COVID,”  Dr. Russel Semeniano, Infectious Disease Service head, said.

Meanwhile, another healthcare worker could not help but hold on to her fellow nurse while she received the Sinovac vaccine at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

“Kinabahan nung una pero ngayon parang feel protected na ako. Praying na walang side effects, walang adverse reactions,” Louella Tadena said.

Tadena was among the 100 frontliners who were vaccinated at the hospital on Friday.

The hospital received 300 doses of Sinovac’s vaccine. However, it said that it will ask for additional doses as more personnel want to get vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the Tondo Medical Center will also ask for additional doses aside from the 300 doses it has already received.

Around 200 personnel of the hospital have registered for COVID-19 vaccination, a figure that is expected to increase next week.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
