San Lazaro Hospital ICU beds for COVID-19 cases already full
Health care professionals at the San Lazaro Hospital are now employing various measures to take care of COVID-19 patients after their intensive care units reached full capacity.
According to Raffy Tima's report on "24 Oras", the COVID-19 ward is still far from full despite the 30 percent increase in the coronavirus cases in the hospital.
“We have to place the patient near the nurses' station and we just have to put monitors,” San Lazaro Hospital spokesperson Dr. Rontgene Solante said.
“We have to modify the rooms to look like an ICU, putting in mechanical ventilators, including monitors,” he added.
“Our intensive care unit is already full because most of those admitted are having either severe or critical COVID,” Solante said.
In preparation for the increase in cases, the San Lazaro Hospital is also preparing for a shortage in personal protective equipment.
Solante also said that more personnel had registered for vaccination against COVID-19.
“Ibig sabihin natakot sila na kapag dumami ang kaso, wala silang bakuna, walang panglaban. So sila rin ang kawawa, no?” Solante said.
