DICT launches pilot digital COVID-19 vaccination registry in San Juan
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Tuesday launched the pilot test of a digital COVID-19 immunization registry in San Juan City.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan II, and testing czar Vince Dizon launched the Vaccine Information Management System Immunization Registry (VIMS-IR).
The VIMS-IR is a digital vaccination management system that will streamline the vaccine registration process in the country in a bid to further speed up the national immunization efforts.
Zamora said the DICT chose San Juan as the pilot city for the VIMS-IR due to its orderly and efficient vaccination efforts.
If the DICT sees that the VIMS-IR has been effective in San Juan City, the system will be brought to other local government units in the country for adoption.
“Layunin natin dito ay pabilisin ang pagbabakuna. ‘Pag nagawa natin ito sa pilot dito sa San Juan, magagawa natin ito nationwide (The aim of the program is to hasten the vaccination. If this is successful here in San Juan, we will do this nationwide),” Honasan said.
Zamora noted that the VIMS-IR has already shortened the registration process for vaccination from 20 minutes to 10 minutes.—AOL, GMA News
