Over 30,000 individuals have already received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccines in Pasig City, Mayor Victor Ma. Regis "Vico" Sotto announced over the weekend.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Sotto said the city breached the 30,000 mark for first dose vaccinations on Saturday, April 24. Around 14% of senior citizens in the city have also received their first dose.

"Mauubos na natin ang on-hand na bakuna sa loob ng 2 linggo, kaya di muna tayo magbubukas ng bagong vaccination site," he said.

[We will use up our onhand vaccines in two weeks, and so we will not open new vaccination sites for now.]

"Let's pray that the national and LGU orders arrive soon," he added.

The local government of Pasig City in January said it ordered 400,000 doses of AstraZeneca, worth P100 million.

The vaccination drive in the city started in March.

Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez Jr. in January said that the government was aiming to vaccinate some 50 to 70 million Filipinos this year, but several agencies have expressed doubts that this will be achieved. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) estimates the country's population at 109.947 million. — DVM, GMA News
