MMDA: Metro Manila truck ban to resume on Monday May 17

The truck ban on major thoroughfares in the National Capital Region (NCR) will resume starting Monday, May 17, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Friday.

According to the MMDA, trucks will be banned from major thoroughfares managed by the agency from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. from Mondays to Saturdays.

Meanwhile, a total truck ban will be enforced along EDSA from the Magallanes Interchange in Makati City to North Avenue in Quezon City.

This will be for 24 hours from Monday to Sunday.

“[T]rucks carrying perishable and agricultural foodstuffs are exempted from the ban,” the MMDA said.

The MMDA said this is in accordance with the general community quarantine (GCQ) implemented in the NCR and the nearby provinces Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna.

The GCQ "with heightened restrictions" will last from May 15 to May 31.
