Date set for Cardinal Advincula to assume Manila post

Cardinal Jose Advincula will be installed as archbishop of Manila next month, according to a post on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) website.

The Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown and other bishops are expected to attend the ceremony, which will take place on June 24 at the Manila Cathedral.

The date was confirmed by Bishop Broderick Pabillo, the archdiocese’s administrator.

Church officials will have to follow health protocols amid the pandemic while the people can view the event via livestream aired on the Catholic television channel TV Maria.

Advincula will be receiving his “red hat” and ring as symbols of his position from Archbishop Brown on May 28 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Roxas City.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Manila has issued a warning of the existence of a fake social media account using the name of Cardinal Advincula.

Fr. Reginald Malicdem said that the Cardinal does not have a social media account maintained by Manila archdiocese nor by the Capiz archdiocese.

He underscored that Cardinal Advincula does not have a personal Facebook account.

“Many people received an invitation to like and follow the page. It’s better to forewarn the public,” Malicdem was quoted as saying. -- BAP, GMA News
