June 24 declared special non-working day in Manila to celebrate 450th anniversary

President Rodrigo Duterte has declared June 24 a special non-working day in the city of Manila to mark the Philippine capital's 450th founding anniversary.

This developed after the President issued Proclamation 1167 on Monday, June 21.

"It is fitting and proper that the people of the City of Manila be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies," the Proclamation read.

The ceremonies, however, are subject to the public's compliance with minimum public health standards such as social distancing, wearing of face mask, among other public health measures.
