Vegetable prices in Metro Manila markets jump amid limited supply
The prices of vegetables went up in some wet markets in Metro Manila due to limited supply.
According to a report on "Balitanghali" on Wednesday, at the Kamuning Market in Quezon City, the prices of vegetables per kilo are as follows:
- Cabbage: P120
- French beans: P200
- Squash: P50
- Potatoes: P70
- Carrots: P70 to 80
- Patola: P80
- Garlic: P120
- Red onion: P120
- White onion: P100
- Broccoli: P280 to P300
- Ampalaya: P120
- Lettuce: P140 to P150
- Tomatoes: P90
- Siling labuyo: P120
- Ginger: P180 to 200
Agriculture Secretary William Dar said wet markets have no reason to increase prices of vegetables because of the good weather condition.
There are also no restrictions on vegetables coming from the provinces, he added.
