SM Supermalls keeps essential stores open amid ECQ in Metro Manila

SM Supermalls are keeping essential stores open as the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila takes effect.

In an advisory, the company said that its supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, hardware stores, and restaurants that offer takeout and delivery will remain open to serve the public.

Free parking will be available during this period, it added.

The government has reimposed ECQ in Metro Manila in light of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the region. It will be in effect from August 6 to 20.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said the two-week ECQ is stricter compared to its previous implementation, calling it a “hard lockdown.” —JCB, GMA News
