2 Marikina jail detainees wounded after hostage attempt

Two detainees of the Marikina City Jail were wounded on Thursday after taking two nurses hostage and exchanging fire with police forces.

According to a report on "State of the Nation," Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro said the detainees attempted to escape after stealing the firearm of their guards.

The negotiation lasted for 30 minutes.

However, the detainees suddenly opened fire, prompting the police officers to retaliate.

The detainees were brought to the hospital. Their condition is not yet known.
