Lacuna to run for Manila mayor; Isko offers ‘wholehearted’ support

Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna will run for mayor of the country's capital while the city's current leader, Isko Moreno, will run for President in Eleksyon 2022.

Manila Public Information Office chief Julius Leonen confirmed this to GMA News Online in a phone interview on Wednesday.

“Honey Lacuna will run as mayor in the 2022 local elections in the city of Manila. Congressman Yul Servo of the 3rd District of Manila as vice mayor under the ticket of Honey Lacuna,” he said.

In a speech, Moreno endorsed Lacuna's plans, expressing confidence that she will continue what the city government and the Manila residents have started during his term.

“Buong loob, walang halong pagdududa ko kayong ipagkakatiwala kay Honey Lacuna dahil alam ko na kayang-kaya niyang ipagpapatuloy ang mga bagay na nasimulan na natin,” he said.

[Wholeheartedly, without doubt, I entrust you to Honey Lacuna because I know she can continue the things we have started.]

On Wednesday, Moreno formally announced his presidential bid in the 2022 elections with Willie Ong, a former senatorial candidate, as his vice president. — BM, GMA News
