11 contacts of 'Poblacion Girl' test positive for COVID-19

Poblacion Girl, the Filipino woman who skipped mandatory hotel quarantine after her return from the United States in December, has caused 11 people to contract COVID-19.

According to Jonathan Andal's report on "24 Oras", the Department of Health in the National Capital Region said seven out of her 11 close contacts were infected with the coronavirus.

Three out of her 26 general contacts, who were staff members of two restaurants, tested positive for COVID-19 as did one of her five second generation contacts.

The incident has prompted police to conduct random checks at quarantine hotels to prevent travelers from skipping mandatory isolation..

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has said the woman's hotel was also at fault for allowing her to leave.

The Berjaya Makati Hotel has apologized and vowed to make accountable members of its staff who were remiss in making sure the traveler stayed in isolation. —NB, GMA News
